Weekend Adventures - Camping at Squamish

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

This past weekend we took the caravan for it's first outing, driving north of Vancouver to Squamish. We spent Friday afternoon walking around the town, peaking in the little shops & then relaxing with a drink at the Howe Sound Inn & Brewing CompanyThese first four photos are from within the township. How cute is that pink picket fence with the bright pink flowers?

We set up camp at the Eagle Vista Resort & Campground. Can you spot our tiny caravan behind the much larger camper?
We found out fairly quickly that both Nick & I could not remember how to start a fire & we ended up having to get help from a neighbouring campsite (in particular their 12 year old son) so that we could have the fire lit before dark. Eventually the fire was lit, burgers were cooked & later we joined the neighbouring site for a drink around their fire.
The caravan was really quite comfy. Nick can stretch his legs only just, but I have plenty of room. The cute windows help bring in the breeze & I also found fly screens in the van, perfect for keeping the bugs out on those hotter summer nights. We didn't see any bears, but apparently one walked through our campsite earlier in the morning! Luckily I didn't see it otherwise you might not have gotten me to go camping again!!
Saturday afternoon we spotted this cute fun fair & had to stop & take a few photos. As were were still full from brunch we weren't tempted to go on any rides, nor buy any fairy floss, but it was fun wandering the fair, taking it all in.

How was your weekend?
