I mentioned on Tuesday that this week I finally had some time to stop, put my feet up & take it easy. This has entailed finishing two books that I've had on the go for a while & watching a little bit of telly. I've been enjoying:
30 Rock Season 5 - Liz Lemon is my hero
The Office Season 8 - The first few episodes were a little lost without Michael but by episode 12 it seems to have found it's groove again.
Gilmore Girls Season 5 - Ah this show just gives you the warm fuzzies
Northern Exposure Season 1 - I've heard a lot about this show lately so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The pilot was one of the best pilots I've ever seen. Everything just fell into place & you felt familiar with the characters and the show within the first few minutes. The second episode had annoying pan pipe music whenever a Native American elder was in the shot. Hopefully this doesn't continue for the rest of the season. But on the whole the show is quaint & likeable.
Bones Season 7 - I normally wait until the box set is released & watch the whole season over a few weeks but this season I couldn't wait. I shan't say why because I don't want to spoil it, but anyway, it's good.
Downton Abbey - I'd heard so much about this (Americans seem to be going nuts for it on twitter). It's much like any other British period drama, really similar to Upstairs Downstairs, so after watching the first episode, I'm not sure as yet what the big deal is.
What shows have you been enjoying lately? I'd love some more suggestions.
I think staying in with my feet up may continue for the next few days, with forcasts of thunderstorms & 42 degrees Celsius. Just when we felt safe to blab on about the awesome dry wether, the storms are back to bite us.

I couldn't quite work out what I wanted to do for a baby shower. I knew a traditional shower with games wasn't really for me. There was brief talk about an all girls poker afternoon or an afternoon by the pool at one of the hotels (the average temperature in February in Alice Springs is 35 degrees Celcius). Nick loves a party & it didn't seem fair that he should miss out on all the shower fun. In the end we settled for an event that Nick could be part of too, a pre-baby BBQ. The last chance to have all our friends over without having to take care of a baby. Just food, booze & fun.
Our friend Noosh came up with these awesome invitations with the most minimal, vague, instructions from me - 'could you please make us an invite to a non-baby shower that blokes are invited to'. I love the concept and the colours came from the monkey we've bought the baby.

The food was a group effort. Nick's mum made artichoke dip & his uncle made baba ganoush. Nick's aunt made a potato salad. My friend bought a green salad. My mum & I made a chickpea and parsley salad, as well as a beetroot, spinach & fetta salad. Noosh, who had already put in a bonza effort with the invites, made a delicious chocolate cake.
Drink of choice for most of the ladies was mineral water with fresh mint and lime (leaving me with all the champagne we'd bought for when I can get back on the booze!). The boys preferred beer. A great night was had by all.

I've been participating sporadically in the Fat Mum Slim February Photo a Day Challenge. As my total photos for Feb are 4, I thought I'd throw in my two crafternoon photos from this week. Monday I made a mobile for above the baby crib and on Wednesday I made a lot of bunting for our pre-baby BBQ this weekend. Photos of the finished products will be shown soon, I promise :)

This barely deserves a 'frockin' up' title & so I haven't given it one, however what you can't tell from the photo is that I have showered & am wearing tinted moisturiser and eye make-up. So 'frockin' up' has been attempted and this post will be labeled as such.
Much like during our time in Revelstoke, this maternity leave/new baby time could be an excuse to wear pjs and no make-up all day and while I am all for pjs & make-up free days, it is nice to dress up, even a little. Hence wearing a lick of make-up with what I refer to as 'my bank robber' outfit. As with my Revelstoke resolution which started these 'Frockin' Up' posts (see here), over the coming weeks I am going to ensure that my pjs only days are restricted to one or two days a week & that most days I've showered & attempted to make myself presentable. This shouldn't be too hard, should it?

Love: Getting things done I am ticking things off the big to do list in my head & it feels great! This week I am going to the dentist, getting my tax done for the last two financial years (I found everything I need to do this too. All I am missing is one 6 month statement. AMAZING), getting my hair cut and coloured. Nick & I are finishing the touches on the baby room, the house and the backyard. Things are getting done. We also finished watching season one of True Blood which has been on my list for ages, but the dvd player on my computer was stuck to Canada..... Things are getting done!!!
What are you loving this Monday?
(Well, it's still Monday somewhere right?)

As we continue to put the nursery together, I'm finding more & more that it isn't sticking to one particular look. Many of the nurseries on blogs have a clear colour scheme & everything fits within it. Well, ours is becoming more & more eclectic. So I was delighted to find this nursery on Apartment Therapy this morning.

I love that there isn't just a two or three colour scheme and I love that it incorporates all sorts of art, not just art deemed for 'kids' rooms. It's given me a bit of courage to make our mix work.

If you're like me you may have been wondering what on earth the AACTA Awards are. Well, the AACTA Awards is the new name for the AFI Awards and you can't have enough awards nights now can you? And let's face it, for the majority of us awards nights are all about ogling frocks. Collette Dinnigan's frocks were a winner with me, her dresses can be seen below on Gracie Otto, Cherie Cassidy and herself. I also thought Claudia Karven's dress was a winner, a bit of animal print never goes astray.
Who was your favourite?
